What's the Story?

In JUSTICE LEAGUE: WARWORLD, Diana Prince (Stana Katic) is in the Wild West helping a town stop Jonah Hex (Troy Baker) and his henchmen. Meanwhile, at the height of the Cold War, Clark Kent (Darren Criss) is a new federal agent sent to investigate what appears to be an alien landing and is paired with local law enforcement officer Bruce Wayne (Jensen Ackles). When the three are transported to a lawless planet in which violence and killing are the norm, they don superhero costumes and take on the evil Mongul and the other villains who rule this planet.

The parts don't equal the whole. Justice League: Warworld starts off strong, but gets increasingly muddied and confusing. It's more of the same "multiverse"/"tomorrowverse" story, where this time Wonder Woman is in the "Wild West," with lots of spaghetti Western nods, and Superman and Batman are law enforcement during the height of Cold War paranoia, in a segment that's an obvious tribute to the classic Twilight Zone episode "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?"

These sections have their inspired moments, but then they end up in this uninspired violent world where they don their superhero costumes and fight the baddies in what seems more reminiscent of 1980s Saturday morning battles, and not in a good way. Indeed, the third act seems rushed and forced, as Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman leave their much more interesting worlds for whatever Warwold is, besides a planet where there can be more sequels.
