Fiery Ramsay mouths off at U.S. restaurateurs.

Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 14–18

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Ramsay's tough-talking technique gets the job done, but he holds nothing back in his extremely harsh criticisms of those around him, which cause plenty of hurt feelings.
  • Violence:

Tempers fly, and harsh insults are hurled at lightning speed. Occasionally verbal fights turn physical, though contact is held to a minimum, and there's no injury.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

A constant barrage of strong expletives like "damn," "s--t," and Ramsay's favorite, "f--k," are bleeped. "Ass" is audible.
  • Consumerism:

The featured restaurants get plenty of exposure after their redesigns.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

Wine and beer are served in the restaurant settings.

What Parents Need to Know

About Kitchen Nightmares

Parents need to know that this restaurant-set reality series stars famously foul-mouthed British chef Gordon Ramsay, whose motivational techniques consist of harsh insults and rude personal attacks aimed at anyone he deems negligent. Though the strongest words (including "s--t" and Ramsay's personal favorite, "f--k") are bleeped, swearing runs rampant throughout the show, coming mostly from Ramsay -- although the restaurant employees express themselves colorfully as well. Hot tempers sometimes lead to utensil-throwing tantrums or physical exchanges (mostly pushing and shoving), but no injuries are shown.

GREAT SHOW BUT SOME INAPROPREAT CONTENT

this show is awsome. But chef ramsly uses words like well swears and uses words that are much worse than that that are interupted by a beep. Also sometimes there is big fights that can be turned into physacal ones. and in one episode a man chef took of his shirt and danced aroung in his underwear sing "i'm to sexy for my shirt to sexy for my shirt". and then the narrator in the backgroung said "there is nothing better than a naked chef". BOTTOM LINE great show but some inapropreat content. And before i rap this up i just need to say of u havent figured it out that Chef ramsly and some of the other chefs are bad role models mainly because of the language they use and how physical they are when they get mad.
