In the POPPLETON series, a good-natured pig wearing a suit and a bowler hat moves in next door to a llama, Cherry Sue, who quickly becomes his best friend. Their town is full of other kind animals -- including Hudson the mouse, Fillmore the goat, Zacko the ferret, and more -- who go on everyday adventures together. Poppleton and Hudson take a trip to the beach, Poppleton helps sick Fillmore feel better, and Poppleton and Cherry Sue go to a pancake breakfast. There are seasonal books within the series, and the friends try to do spring cleaning, buy a warm coat, and build with icicles together.
¿Vale la pena?
This is a wonderful series for beginning readers. The Poppleton books are a little bit funny, incredibly simple, and packed with sweetness. Parents and kids can read them together, and independent readers likely will find the chapters -- each about 15 pages long, with big, beautiful illustrations -- short enough that they aren't exhausting. The stories are small and simple but big on being kind, truthful, and proud of who you are.
