MINNEAPOLIS and SAN FRANCISCO, July 10, 2008 - Best Buy, the nation's largest consumer electronics retailer, announced today that it was expanding its relationship with Common Sense Media, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing parents with the information they need to manage entertainment and media in their kids' lives.

Since May 2007, Best Buy has featured reviews, content descriptions and user comments from Common Sense Media in the video games section of BestBuy.com. Starting this week, BestBuy.com will feature Common Sense Media's information on DVDs as well.

"We continue to be impressed with Best Buy's commitment to providing parents with detailed information to help them make the right media choices for their families," said James Steyer, CEO and founder of Common Sense Media. "With Common Sense Media's DVD and video game reviews now incorporated prominently throughout bestbuy.com, we hope to help parents find the media titles that are right for their kids, whatever their age and their family's preferences."

Best Buy was the first retailer to add Common Sense Media reviews as an online shopping tool.

"At Best Buy we understand the importance of giving customers clear and accurate information to help them make good decisions about media titles they buy," said Jill Hamburger, vice president of movies and games at Best Buy. "We want parents to be confident they are buying DVDs and games that are appropriate and enjoyable for their families. The additional information from Common Sense Media provides guidance about both the content of the title and its entertainment value as well as serving as a great supplement to ratings information currently available."

Common Sense Media's library of more than 8,000 reviews of movies, video games, TV shows, Web sites, books and music is a trustworthy resource to help parents make media choices specific to the needs of their families.

Based on childhood development criteria for age-appropriateness, Common Sense Media's ratings system gives parents detailed information about the content of video games and DVDs – including violence, sexual content, and profanity – as well as guidelines to help parents find great titles fast.
