What is the process after an application is submitted?

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates. (Please note we cannot respond to every application.)
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person or virtual interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

San Francisco, CA; option to work remotely

The anime TV reviewer will use their subject-matter expertise to watch, evaluate, and write about TV, movies, and streaming content for an audience of parents and caregivers, using child development and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens. With excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, this contract role will produce anywhere from 4 to 10 new reviews per month. Work may also include updates to older reviews. You'll support and manage content, marketing, communications, and social media efforts, our bilingual texting offering, and general program needs, focusing on serving lower-income families and communities of color across the country. Content Manager, Family and Community Engagement

Flexible – San Francisco, CA; option to work remotely

The Family and Community Engagement team's Content Manager will use their bilingual (Spanish/English) writing and speaking skills and cultural knowledge to oversee the creation of high-quality, relevant articles, videos, and other resources in Spanish for our Common Sense Latino program, which serves Spanish-speaking and predominantly lower-income families. This role will also provide Spanish-speaking families with advice and recommendations via workshops, presentations, and press interviews. Other responsibilities include maintaining an up-to-date Spanish style guide, managing contract translators, managing Spanish content in a database, and working with other departments to deliver family resources in Spanish for a range of projects and initiatives. All work will be done through a child-development and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens. With a background in education, writing, and editing, the Editor, Learning Content, has an understanding of the edtech space, best practices for using media in the classroom, and an ability to translate this knowledge effectively for educators and caregivers.

Editorial Associate

The Editorial Associate is an integral part of the Editorial department, connecting the team with other work groups and staying on top of the many details required to keep the department workflow moving and the website and partners updated. The Associate serves as the department's "living index" of the consumer content library, functioning as the point person for what's covered by the Editorial team and supporting curation and promotion efforts. They also serve as the team's point person for requests and deliverables from other departments in the organization.
