Adapting the Digital Citizenship curriculum for the Nearpod platform enhances the engagement and interactivity offered by features such as instantly graded quizzes, open-ended response questions, polls, videos, and drawing features. Teachers see the results of their students in real-time and respond immediately to their students, or access post-session reports of student data.
“Teaching kids to think critically and behave responsibly in today’s fast-paced digital world is essential,” said Mike Lorion, General Manager of Education at Common Sense Media. “Providing educators a safe and secure platform to see in real-time if students are engaged in and acquiring these foundational skills has great value for any teacher working in a flipped classroom or implementing technology into the classroom for the first time."
Nearpod is an app that that provides teachers with the platform to create engaging classroom experiences for use across all devices– smartphones, tablets, desktops, and all operating systems. Teachers are able to create their own content or curate lesson plans from their Content Store that feature text, images and videos, quizzes, polls, and other interactive elements.
"Teaching digital citizenship skills is a necessity for schools involved in technology deployments, but teachers have so little time to develop lessons around topics outside of their regular teaching load " said Guido Kovalskys, CEO of Nearpod. “With the launch of Common Sense Education’s K-12 Digital Citizenship curriculum, teachers now have access to ready-to-teach, world class content combined with interactive activities, assessment and real-time feedback from Nearpod.”
Common Sense Educations' resources include professional development tools and information and activities for parents. Since 2008, Common Sense Education's programs have been adopted by a network of more than 94,000 schools in all 50 states, and more than 200 countries worldwide.
