San Francisco, CA -- Common Sense Media announced today that Amy Guggenheim Shenkan has been named president and COO of the organization. Shenkan will assume her duties effective immediately.
“Amy brings an impressive range of experience in strategy, marketing, product management, and business development to Common Sense Media,” said James Steyer, CEO and founder, Common Sense Media. “Her expertise in digital marketing and e-commerce will be a huge asset to the organization as we continue to expand consumer, education, and advocacy platforms. We’re delighted to welcome Amy to the team.”
Shenkan comes to Common Sense Media from McKinsey & Company, where she was a leader of the firm’s global digital marketing and sales practice. Prior to her years at McKinsey, she served as senior vice president at Previewtravel.com, where she launched their award-winning Destination Guides, negotiated and managed their major marketing partnerships, and was a key leader of the team that negotiated and executed their merger with Travelocity. She also held roles as vice president of strategy and vice president of product development at Wells Fargo, where she helped create and implement the bank’s online financial services strategy.
“I’m thrilled to join Common Sense Media at such an exciting time in the organization’s growth,” said Shenkan. “Their mission to educate and empower both parents and kids in this increasingly digital world is so vital, and I look forward to helping the team leverage the new and exciting opportunities that will bring these important resources to both bigger audiences and new channels.”
Shenkan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BA in economics and psychology from the University of Michigan. She is mom to a six-year-old daughter, and lives with her family in San Francisco.
