Jim Steyer, Common Sense CEO and Founder, released the following statement in response to the reintroduction of the Markey-Hatch Student Privacy Bill today.
"Common Sense is heartened to see bipartisan leaders in both Congressional chambers making the critical and complex topic of student privacy a national priority, and we welcome today’s action by Senators Hatch and Markey. We are pleased that policymakers are working to strengthen current laws and to introduce new laws to ensure that schools and the private ed tech companies they partner with protect students’ personal information. Students should be able to access the very best digital learning tools without compromising their privacy or security. We look forward to working with Congress and other interested parties to get this right. America’s students, families, and educators deserve nothing less."
