Common Sense Media Announces Major Additions to Senior Management Team

New CMO, CTO, and Vice Presidents Bring a Wealth of Knowledge, Experience to Leading Kids-and-Media Organization

SAN FRANCISCO, CA –– Common Sense Media, the nation's leading resource on media for kids and parents, announced today the addition of four executives to the senior management team.

Doug Reed, Chief Technology Officer: Doug has more than 15 years of engineering, technical leadership, and start-up experience. Most recently, he was the co-founder and CTO of Cake Financial, where he built the company's technical operations from the bottom up. Prior to Cake, Doug held management positions at Intuit and PayPal. He is the father of two girls.

Jeff Weitzman, Chief Marketing Officer: With more than 20 years of professional experience, Jeff comes to Common Sense Media from Coupons, Inc., where as COO and CMO he led the company through more than six years of growth, pushing its flagship site,, into the top 200 sites on the Web. Prior to Coupons, Inc., he was senior director of client services at Yahoo! and earlier helped expand that company's promotions group after it acquired online promotion company Yoyodyne, Inc., where he was SVP of operations. Jeff is the father of three.

Marlene Saritzky, Vice President of Communications: Marlene brings more than 20 years of experience in communications, production, publishing, politics, and the entertainment industry to Common Sense Media. She's held senior-level communications and strategy positions with Lucasfilm, Sony, and Time, Inc. and as a consultant has worked with a wide range of leading nonprofit and child advocacy clients. Marlene is the mother of a preschooler.

Rebecca Randall, Vice President of Outreach: Rebecca, who has been with Common Sense Media since its inception in 2004, has been promoted from director to vice president. She's been instrumental in the development of the Common Sense Schools program, as well as the driving force behind partnerships with the National PTA, The California Endowment, Head Start, and other influential partner organizations. Rebecca is the mother of two.

Reed and Weitzman will report to president and COO Anne Zehren. Saritzky will report to CEO/founder James Steyer. Randall will report to Weitzman.
