James P. Steyer, Founder and CEO of Common Sense, on the new HEROES Act
SAN FRANCSICO (September 29, 2020) -- The following was released by James P. Steyer, Founder and CEO of Common Sense, on the new HEROES Act:
"The new HEROES Act introduced in the House would make desperately needed investments for education, children, families, and working people during the time of the pandemic. The coronavirus has placed the ability of millions of children to continue their education in jeopardy and has cast tens of millions of Americans into economic uncertainty. The major investment in this new bill to close the digital divide for students and their families is critical, for education but also for the ability of adults to access healthcare, job information, and training online. High speed internet at home is as essential today as running water and electricity and no household should be forced to go without it. I hope that the White House and Congress can continue to work together to reach an agreement to see these investments signed into law as soon as possible."
