Statement from James P. Steyer, Founder & CEO of Common Sense, on Section 230
James P. Steyer Founder & CEO of Common Sense, on House Committee on Energy & Commerce Hearing on "Fostering a Healthier Internet to Protect Consumers"
"Ask any parent and most will say their kid has come across inappropriate and disturbing content online. That's because Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act has allowed for an explosion of irresponsible, harmful, and dangerous content with no real accountability. Parents are no match against the manipulative and persuasive design powering these platforms. We need to provide safe and healthy internet platforms for kids and families, and we applaud Congress for addressing this important issue."
