Statement on State AG's Investigation into Instagram’s impact on children and teens

We think this announcement is very significant. When you combine pressure from the AG's with increased bi-partisan attention on Capitol Hill, plus the likelihood of a more aggressive and resourced Federal Trade Commission, Instagram potentially has a meta problem on its hands. And this is a problem that it brought on itself. Hopefully, at a minimum, one of the results of the announcement will be that Instagram will shelve permanently its plans for Instagram for kids, as we have called for. And through the AG investigation and through hearings in Congress we should move closer to a solution to reducing online harms to children, teens, and our society.
