How Cookie Preferences Work Across Domains
Cookie consent preferences are managed at the domain, browser, and device level.
This means:
- Preferences selected on one domain may not automatically apply to another domain or app
- Preferences are specific to each browser and device you use
- If you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, you may need to set your preferences again
For example:
- Preferences selected on CommonSenseMedia.org do not automatically carry over to CommonSense.org.
- Preferences selected in one browser (such as Chrome) may not apply in another browser (such as Safari)
- Mobile app privacy settings are managed separately from website cookie settings
To maintain consistent preferences, please use the Cookie Preference Center available in the footer of each applicable website.
Additional Information About Cookie Categories
You may see the same cookie categories displayed across multiple Common Sense properties because consent management tools are configured at the domain level. However, the appearance of a category does not necessarily mean that cookies from that category are used on the specific page or section you are visiting.
For example, some sections of our websites may not use advertising-related cookies even if those categories appear in the consent interface.
Third-Party Embedded Content
Some pages may include embedded third-party content, such as YouTube videos or other external media. If you interact with this content, you may be redirected to, or interact directly with third-party platforms that apply their own cookies, tracking technologies, and privacy practices.
