How do I talk to my kids about violence in the news?
If your kid is on social media, or even just watches YouTube, you can be sure that they've heard about this past weekend's shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. Even if they don't have phones yet, they're hearing bits and pieces from friends and family or from TV, the radio, and the internet. The modern dilemma of managing your own emotions—anger, confusion, sadness—while also trying to comfort and reassure your kids has become all too frequent—for all of us.
