Cygnus Enterprises
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Cygnus Enterprises is an upcoming single-player, sci-fi themed cross-genre hybrid, blending elements of city management with that of an action role-playing game. As a new contractor employed by the titular Cygnus Enterprises, you job was to build and maintain a presence on a distant world. Things take a turn when your ship mysteriously malfunctions, crashing on the planet and leaving you deserted. After coming across a previously abandoned Cygnus outpost, you decide to get right to work on rebuilding the base and climbing that corporate ladder. Each day is split up into two parts. The first involved running around the base, collecting and processing resources, tending to your clone workforce's needs and keeping them happy, managing research projects, crafting new items and building, and spending a little "me time" on your own character's skill points, abilities, and loadout, all earned over the course of various missions. The second half of each work day involves traveling away from the base and completing different types of missions to further gain resources while giving your base time to complete its tasks. Many of these missions are combat focused, with players using different combinations of sci-fi weapons and special abilities against a variety of odd creatures and other hostile lifeforms. While the combat here is a constant focus, there's no blood or gore shown onscreen. Instead, defeated enemies fall to the ground and dissolve off the screen, often leaving behind additional resources or items. The game injects a lot of levity into the experience with tongue-in-cheek dialogue, which is sarcastic in wit and silly in humor, without resorting to profanity in the dialogue. The game's Early Access status means development on the game is ongoing, so you may run into the occasional bug, and the gameplay could change significantly before its final release.
