Awesome ♥️♥️ wish there was a sequel!
Really good book!
The main character, Eliza, was so relatable. I love the way the author wrote about her and her struggles.
I would recommend this book for ages 13 and up due to swearing. No more than you wouldn't be exposed to as a teenager, though.
My rule of thumb is to never read a book with the main character more than 5 years older than I am, and Eliza is 18.
There are also maybe 3 mentions of s.x. There is one scene where the parents are talking about the first time they did it, and another where the mom tells Eliza that she's taking her to a doctors appointment 'to check'. In a TV show, they do mention sex in a humorous way.
Great messages about internet safety and friendship. Definitely took away
The parents seem like parents. Unlike many other books, they aren't cliché. They make mistakes. They try to fix it, but the book doesn't write it off as some little thing. They don't forget.
I can't say this enough. This book was AMAZING. It had everything a good book should: romance, relatable characters, struggles...
Surprisingly, there was no alcohol or drugs!! That's a first!
I read this book on my e-reader but I may have to go and buy it now.

Good for mature children and teens
The book is very awesome but near the end of the book, the main character does contemplate and almost commit suicide. Eliza also develops a panic disorder.

Simple book with a strong plotline
A girl becomes famous online while keeping her online life separate from her real life. As those two things collapse into each other, the books grows very emotional. The book turns into a romance as it goes on through the entire story. It was unique in its plot and the writing was impressive as well.

It Surprised Me
This book surprised me, as you can tell by the title of my review. I didn't think I would like this book, but I did. The main character, Eliza, is one of the most relatable characters (to me) I have ever read. The portrayal of being an introvert is the best one I have found, ever. This book goes through touchy topics such as death of a parent by suicide and depression, but the characters emerge better from these struggles. There's a fair amount of swearing, but nothing that kids in high school haven't heard.
The reason I say this book is for kids 14+ is because those are high-school age kids, and that's when the book is set. It talks about struggles in high school and I don't think you can understand them until you're actually in high school.
The messages in this book are good because they warn you about the internet. Eliza lives in her privacy, and doesn't tell anyone who her online persona is. When it's revealed, her life changes for the worse. She becomes depressed and can't go anywhere without being recognized. People are leaving notes in her locker, and she's scared. It shows the dangers of the internet and why privacy is so important, which is a really great message. Another great message of the book is how Eliza comes out of this for the better. She fixes her problems and learns to live without her privacy. It's a really good book with important messages, and it needs to be read.

A Very Realistic Representation of Being "Stuck in Your Head/Online"
There are may intriguing aspects to this book, and to be completely honest I think that it portrays introverted-ness very accurately. Maybe not for all people, but I personally related to Eliza very much. I may not have an online alter-ego, but there are plenty relatable things about her character. This really drew me into the book, and maybe you'll find a relatable aspect too.
