The Most Accurate Description of Middle School Ever!
This is my favorite book ever! It describes Maya following a 1950s popularity guide throughout 8th grade. It is one of the most important experiments ever conducted! Every 6th grader should read this book, either before or in middle school. It explains the true definition of popularity, what it really means to be popular! Maya is a very relatable and amazingly strong willed character, she is so courageous and I want I definitely be like her when I grow up. I definitely want to be a an amazing author at her age! This is a middle school must read, a favorite to all! All 6th grader should read this book!

This was such a good book!
I would recommend this book to kids who are starting middle school. I think a lot of kids can relate to Maya, and it finishes the book with a good message. It does talk a little bit about sex ed and using tampons. The book also talks about that at Maya's school, kids were getting caught with drugs and that two kids at her middle school were pregnant.

As Maya is stuck at the bottom of the social leader pretty much at the lowest level of people at school. Mayas' dad buys her a book called " Glamour Guide for teens " by Betty Cornell from a thrift store and gives it to Maya. The book is abandoned for a while until her family cleans out her dads office and they find the book. Maya then decides to read it and decides to begin a unique social experiment. As a result, she spends her school year following a 1950s' popularity guide. Maya does all sorts of stuff from curlers, girdles, Vaseline and strand of pearls. Will Maya become popular after all?
This book was interesting because Maya did all sorts of crazy stuff.

Maya is at the bottom of the social ladder until one day when her parents give her an old copy of Betty Cornell's Teen Age Popularity Guide. Maya decides to apply what the book says to see if 1950s popularity advice would actually work in modern day. A great book written by 15 year old Maya Van Wagenen, this inspiring true story is perfect for any kid who is at the bottom-or top-of their schools social ladder.
