Extremely disturbing/ dark hidden lore
Now don’t get me wrong, this is a great game and for kids who don’t reallt focus on the story too much will get a great kick out of this game! I would give this a 7+ if you focus on the gameplay, it’s not violent at all, the overall story is basic, cartoony and great! But when you get onto the extra modes and especially the true arena, things get a very dark turn here... one thing to put in consideration is that the entire Kirby series is connected and there’s always a hidden lore in each game that slowly pieces a whole another story. But it’s not some fun story, the Kirby lore is extremely DARK. It involves, betrayal, greed, envy, death, hopelessness and so many evil ideas. But to get to these stories you need to be very advanced and need to look at the boss descriptions of for example: the hidden final boss which is very hard to get to in this game. But if your kids somehow manage to get all the way up to the secret/ true final boss, they can look at the boss descriptions and see a truly terrifying lore. This game also has the most dark piece of lore in the ENTIRE series. Its about a man who lost his daughter to a expirement and wants to bring her back. He then modifies a ancient artifact called a nova which novas are things that grant wishes. But the Haltmann (the man.) decided to program the nova and turn in into its base. But because of Haltmann re programming the nova, the nova cannot make any more wishes and he cannot bring back his daughter. This drives Haltmann insane and he turns over to his company and gets very greedy and now cannot even remember his own daughter anymore. While that was all happening, his daughter was working for his company the whole time! And when you fight Haltmann after you defeat him, he goes to trying to activate the nova again which is called star dream by the way. But instead he gets fully corrupted and merges with Star dream. Then Star dream goes into space, you fight him and stuff, but when you get to his second phase and look at his description, you can see a quote from Haltmann feeling so regretful and only wishing to see his daughter again and talking about how foolish he was for realizing no machine could make such a dream come true. It’s a very heartbreaking description. This description luckily doesn’t appear for its regular boss but only for its secret boss counterpart. But the misery doesn’t stop there. In the “true” final phase, you enter the Novas core, the heart of nova. The heart of nova fight only appears in the secret boss ending which is very unlikely that a kid under 10 years old will ever reach this point of the game. But anyways, the boss fight at the start summons pillars that you need to destroy. Then you go fight the heart itself and then the secret ending is complete. So what’s so dark right? Well evertime you destroy a pillar, you can hear Haltmann SCREAMING in agony and utter pain. And the last pillar you destroy, the screams are silent. And after that, you look at the description of the boss, and it clearly states that Haltmann is DEAD. Even his own SOUL has been deleted from the cold mindless machine. THAT IS SOME DISTURBING LORE.
But as always, this dark information about the game is hidden very well. But if your kids somehow manage to find it, they will be scarred from this game.
