Entertaining film based on 60s TV show

Though the film looks like for younger kids it has some intense bits where we see Astro boy in pain and pushing him to his ultimate limit which may scare kids under 6, the scariest bit is when human Astro boy is killed by a robot where he is shot by a big laser off screen but we hear him screaming in pain. But this lovely story promotes teamwork and perseverance.

Gave me nightmares as a kid

When i was 5 my nan took me to see this film in the cinema, after watching it i was traumatised for a long time, i'd have day and nightmares in which i'd be sitting on my sofa and then i'd see him, the robot boy who was like a ghost because he'd died so many times in that film, now the film is on netflix which scares me, i don't want little kids watching it and i certainly don't want to watch it ever again!!

Quite sad

Overall this movie made me think a lot and was stuck in my brain for a while. Being a teen this still made me feel extremely upset when Toby died and how his father rejected him as he was different now even though he was basically the same. I wouldn’t recommend this to younger viewers as there are heavy topics, violence, and many deaths of the main character. The beginning of the movie is probably the saddest meaning you could either skip it and explain briefly or expect some tears. But I am just a sensitive person. This move kept me up at night very upset at the thought of toby or ‘astro’s extremely traumatic life. Which does make me quite sad to watch or even think about the film.

I cried

I'm not such an emotional person and I never cried because of a movie or a book but this is an exception, this was the only movie where I cried. I always cry when I watch this movie, each time when I rewatch it even if I knew the story. It's just very sad especially for astro boy lovers. And violence is not that bad but also not very gentle

Fun and exciting movie

I really loved watching this. It is a little bit sad and deals with the death of a family member. The main character has machine guns on his hands, they don't hurt people, only robots.

Not really good

There were some messages in it that were good. I didn't find it that interesting.

Very heavy but still okay

First up, let me say that it's been a while since I saw this movie so there's a lot that I don't remember. Yes, it is rather violent and has extreme levels of grief to deal with but I think that this movie can be used as an introduction to live-action superhero movies such as the ones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The political themes went over my head at the time, but I suppose if I were to watch it again I would notice more.

Astro Boy

Astro boy is a good film. Toby dies in the first few minutes , but his dad builds a robot replica called Toby. He finds out loving the robot is a lot harder then he thought. So Toby ran away to the earth where he gets new freinds goes in a lot of battles and then he gets captured and he goes back to his own planet. Overall I say this film is for age 8+. And is a very good film.
