Parents say the movie entertains young children but diverges significantly from the gentle style of the original PBS show, featuring a more aggressive portrayal of the characters and focusing on buddy comedy rather than educational content. While some parents appreciate the improved animation and fun elements suitable for slightly older kids, concerns arise about the messages it sends regarding disobedience and the representation of parental authority.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 12 ):
Kids say ( 4 ):

This is an immensely watchable movie that delivers exactly what you're looking for in a Curious George vehicle. Curious George 3: Back to the Jungle has a fast pace, a mildly suspenseful plot, lots of silly pratfalls and goofs, and lots of warm new friendships along the way. Here, George goes outside his typical New York City stomping ground for some space travel, then to the jungle where he becomes acquainted with jungle life.

This is a no-brainer for toddlers and preschoolers, who will find this movie easy to follow and suspenseful enough to stay engaged, with resolutions that are reassuring and positive. The animation and voice work are solid, and the action is well-paced but broken up with a few musical sequences. Additionally, George must encounter new experiences and solve problems in a new way, which gives viewers a window into making new friends and trying new things in situations that might seem scary at first. There's mild suspense but nothing likely to scare sensitive kids.
