An old horror mystery classic that still holds up today
It's such a classic horror mystery, there is some mild gore, though most of the kills are off screen. There are also jump scares, and intense chase scenes. and language, but I Know What You Did Last Summer is an amazing classic which had me stumped the first time I watched it.

Good storyline with unexpected surprises and a tough mysterious case.
The illustration of the 90s horror / slasher illustration with some 90s teen vibes and how big problem came after mistaking someone's death. Revenge is the word to haunt these teens and they had to survive through this mystery. Not much violence was seen, but illustrating more 90s teen vibes than a cold murder case.

90s slasher a decent ‘Scream’ ripoff
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER forgets the simple suspense story from the popular Lois Duncan tween novel it is based on and gleefully emulates the superior SCREAM (it’s written by SCREAM writer Kevin Williamson). Violence is extreme, with moments of intense gore as well. Profanity is extreme with numerous uses of strong adult language. Implied sexual encounters between teens and underage drinking play a large role in the beginning of the story. It’s not a bit scary for older teens and adults, but kids under 15 might find this horror film too intense.

Quite gory and violent
While it obviously depends on the individual child, I would not recommend this movie for anyone under the age of 14 at the latest. The acting is pretty poor and, thanks to the film being as old as I am, the cinematic effects are barely existent, meaning it may not have as much of a negative effect as a more recent film might; however, I would suggest a parent to be vigilant and either accompany the child in watching it if they are under 17, or watch it beforehand to advise them.
The film does contain some drinking, but I would not say that would have much of an effect on teenagers, particularly as in this case it is shown in a negative light.
The violence is somewhat exaggerated and reminiscent of Psycho, so could easily come across as more comedic than grotesque.
The main issue in my opinion is gore. There are also a number of jump scares and an intimidating villain, so sensitive children would be wise to avoid it.
Overall the movie is not worth fretting over. If you aren't sure whether the child is ready for it, let them know it's a pretty poor film anyway and they aren't missing out on much!

4 stars out of 5!!!
This is probably one of the tamer horror films that are more appropriate for younger 15+ teens. '90's movies are the best - wish they still made them this way! This one is fun and scary but not over-the-top gruesome. Four best friends go wild after graduation and one of them drinks a little too much, causing a car ride to spiral out of control and accidentally hitting a man. Disturbed and confused, one member decides to throw the body into the sea to avoid going to jail and ruining their future. Each agrees even though they are not aware that the man is still alive - only to come back a year later for revenge. There are plenty of scary scenes, especially the chase scene. Quite a bit of violence, like any horror (stabbings, car chase, getting hooked, being terrorized with notes, a body with bugs is found in a car trunk...etc). Sexual content is minimal - There is some making out on a beach, mild sex talk, brief comment about breasts. Language isn't as bad or frequent as today's films...the occasional "f" word, sh*t, d@mn, @sshole. Some drinking by teens in the beginning. The sequel is also pretty good but a lot more violent and gory. This one gets a 4/5 from me!!

Descent but does the book little good:I
I saw this movie for the first time when I was 15(Male). This movie was very bloody and violent. I jumped multiple times. It was very graphic when the Fisherman cut his victims with a fishing hook(spewn blood shown) I did not think the movie did the book much good
