Tarzan, Master of a Thousand Disguises. Including, but not limited to : Human, gorilla, piranha, chameleon and a rifle.

This is a pretty good movie, though much different from the book. The story is fine and the humor is often funny. There is some violence. A baby gorilla follows a frog into the jungle, and is chased and killed by an evil-looking leopard. Tarzan's parents are killed by said leopard which leaves bloody footmarks beside them, and Clayton is the definition of "trigger happy". He is strangled to death with vines. Clayton's the main villain in this movie, which is funny because in the book he wasn't the villain. The baboons that chase Jane are like the stuff of nightmares. They're completely black with red eyes, and there is about a hundred of them. They swarm up trees like rats, and actually gave me the creeps. The plot is pretty good, as well as the characters. The funny scenes in this movie are actually funny, like the elephant talking about how he's scared of germs and piranhas, when Jane was telling her dad what had happened, and when Tarzan was first finding out about people. Baby Tarzan looks EXACTLY like a gorilla. It's so weird. This is a lot different from the book, but is still an enjoyable movie to watch.

I'm not one much for romance... but this was okay

I'll have to agree with most of the parents on this one... there was too much violence in this. Actually, since I have so much to say on the violence, I'll save that for a bit later. Other than the violence, there wasn't much wrong with this. Of course I didn't like the romance aspect of it, but that's just because I don't like romance. And unlike the movie would like you to believe, gorillas and people ARE different! But I suppose that would ruin the tender parts of the movie and other stuff like that... Kerchak and Tarzan had some falling outs, which wasn't great, since Kerchak was the leader of the clan and Tarzan was therefore challenging his authority. And one little note on Clayton... he seemed totally okay with lying to get his way. I mean, he was the villain, but just a heads up. Now... for the violence. There's not one... not two... there are 6(!) deaths in this movie. Now, the deaths themselves aren't portrayed in too gruesome of a manner (all except for one). But 6 deaths is WAY too many for a G-rated movie! Never in a million years would I have given this a G rating. This movie SO needed a PG rating... So, just know that if you wouldn't watch (or let your kids watch) a PG movie, you shouldn't watch this movie. (I'll put a list of the deaths at the end of this review after a spoiler warning.) Apart from the deaths, this movie was pretty nice. The romance between Jane and Tarzan was very sweet and chaste, so I was totally okay with it being in a G movie. [Even though the younger G audience wold probably be even less interested in the romance than I am. ;-)] There were nice messages such as being adopted doesn't make you any less family, etc. Same as Meet the Robinsons, the messages were inserted into the movie without a specific role model, well, modeling. The songs were amazing! I love "Strangers Like Me", "Son of Man", and "You'll Be in my Heart"! I actually don't like "Two Worlds", but that's because of some sketchy lyrics in the chorus, not because the actual melody sounded bad. How sketchy? "Trust your heart. Let fate decide to guide these lives..." Yeah... I'll pass. In the end, it was an okay movie, but it just wasn't my type. I liked it, but let's just say it wasn't even close to getting on my favorites list. :-) ------------------------SPOILER WARNING----------------------- List of deaths: Tarzan's father, Tarzan's mother, Kerchak's and Kala's baby, Sabor, Clayton, and Kerchak

YES

This was a great movie! It was perfect. There is one character (Terk) whose gender is not very obvious......but so you’ll know....she’s female. Tarzan 2 is also really good! Oh, and FYI, there are a total of 6 deaths in this movie.

Bit dark at the end

In my opinion, Tarzan is a great movie. Although, in the end it gets quite dark. The villain gets tangled in vines, and while rushing to get out he ends up tangling the vines around his neck- then..he falls from a great height. When Tarzan jumps down to find him... a shadow of him hanging is slightly shown when the lighting strikes.

Excellent Disney retelling of the legend, but not that factual; blood.

Too sad ),:

If you have a sensitive child do not watch this. The parents die at the beginning and there is blood and bodies visible. The baby almost dies which is very traumatic to me. The (adoptive) gorilla mom almost dies too then at the end ***SPOILER*** the gorilla dad dies. This is a depressing movie that makes me cry although it is entertaining I think young kids shouldn’t see it until they are 9 or 10 ish.

Not for kids under 7

Very good film. The characters are great, kind and helpful but some mild distressing scenes in the movie like when the vicious leopard killed Kala's baby, Tarzan's family gets killed by the same leopard, Kerchak roars in some of the film and there is a battle scene from hunters against gorillas in the end Kerchak dies. As I said about the distressing moment's, I don't recommend Disney Tarzan for anyone under the age of 7. In Common Sense says it shouldn't be 6+, it must be 7+ due to scary and upsetting scenes

Age Appropriate: fine for 8+

I have watch this film a long time ago and it is quite exciting, but some scene are unsettling like when that vicious leopard kills Kala's baby (offscreen) and Tarzan's parent as dead as corpses with blood leopard footprints. Tarzan gets in love with Jane (the sex scene). The shadow of Clayton's dead body dangling from the vines (which is a bit too scary for young children). From the undergrowth, Clayton shoots at Tarzan, but the bullet only grazes his arm. Kerchak, who has reconciled with Tarzan after he returned, is fatally shot when he charges at Clayton. This film contain too much scenes of death like Clayton kills Kerchak and he then he died. The beginning scene was a bit intense when the boat was to fire and Tarzan's parent have to get out from the fired boat. I like the happy ending of the film when Tarzan takes jane to the jungle. It is a fun and curious movie but a bit too scary (for young children). The 1999 version of Tarzan is not age appropriate for children under 8 years of age.

While Shrek is in the jungle he becomes a manly man

While Shrek is in the jungle he becomes a manly man . In some scenes he is shown eating wild cocomelon disgustingly so dont watch that scene if you have grossnastychewing-phobia. Shrek also give's himself the stoopid name Tarzan. He kill's lots of babadookie's and wild Elmo's. This is best for 177 and up because of graphic bloody violence and gross stuff.

Sabor the leopard ate my monkey!!!

When I watched the movie so busy, my monkey went to go outside and play recess. When I heard Sabor, I had to run to hunt her! SHE ATE MY MONKEY!!!!!!! Then she's going to chase me! My monkey has been eaten alive! Whatever you do, shelter your little monkeys in your home/zoo/yurt/ from Sabor! Edit: I've never watched Tarzan but I'll probably love it. Yeah, I saw the scene of Sabor chasing the baby gorilla then eats him! Poor Kerchak and Kala's child! Try to do story of Clayton! :)
