“Ahh, home, crap home!”

The Money Pit is a 1986 slapstick comedy film directed by Richard Benjamin and starring Tom Hanks, Shelley Long and Alexander Godunov. Language(3/5): The film has 10 uses of “G**”, 8 uses of “hell”, 3 uses of “g****mn” and “a**”, 2 uses of “son of a b**ch” and “Chr**t”, and 1 use of “s**t”, “wh*re”, “Good L*rd”, “damn” and “bastard”. The film has 33 total curses. Sex, Romance and Nudity(3/5): Throughout the film, the phrase “sleep/slept together” is said 14 times. Near the beginning of the film, a scantily clad woman is shown dancing. Anna and Walter frequently kiss each other. A young boy says “'Hey, keep it brief. I got a chick in the jacuzzi.'” A construction worker harasses Anna and grabs onto her clothes, Walter confronts him about this. The construction worker says she’s “'good-lookin’ wool'” twice, uses “wood” as a sexual slang once, and uses a crude hand gesture to imply sex. Max frequently flirts inappropriately with Anna directly and indirectly, and he says these things once: “'Let’s talk about love and sex. Forget love, let’s just talk about sex'”, and “'Sex would have been a miracle.'” Anna and Walter are shown making out in bed, they are both clothed, Anna is moaning, and Walter is on top with Anna wrapping her legs around him; during this short scene, the construction workers watch them through an open window and Anna and Walter panic and shut the window curtains. A statue of a nude boy urinating is shown, his genitals are only visible once and the view isn’t graphic. Anna stays over with Max and gets drunk, when they wake up, she’s in bed while he’s next to her shirtless. Anna panics, thinking that they slept together, and Max confirms that they did by saying “'Last night, you were the animal I remember.'” Walter becomes suspicious of Anna, and she eventually confesses that she slept with Max, prompting an argument where Walter says “'I leave town for 5 minutes, you can’t wait to leap into the sack with Max!'” and “'I’m not the one screwing around!'” Max then reveals to Anna that he lied about sleeping with her. Paintings of topless women are briefly visible but aren’t focused on and are easy to miss. Drinking, Drugs and Smoking(3/5): Characters drink beer, wine, champagne and other types of alcohol fairly frequently, and side characters smoke cigarettes and cigars. Anna gets so drunk one night that she can’t recall what she did. Anna smokes a cigarette due to the stress of dealing with the house, and Walter hesitates to let her smoke because she “'stopped smoking 5 years ago'”; she then reveals she started smoking again two weeks ago. Violence(2/5): The film focuses on Anna and Walter’s struggle with repairing their decrepit house, with numerous mild slapstick pratfalls(people are crushed, burned, and electrocuted, and Walter falls through a hole in the ground as he steps on a rug and ends up getting stuck), and destruction (including the stairs collapsing, a raccoon attack, electrical failures and fires, the bathroom crashing through the top floor, and a rube-goldberg-like destruction of the house while it’s under construction). Anna is harassed by a construction worker and she says “'This animal attacked me!'” Positive Messages(2/5): The film doesn’t have many positive messages throughout, but ultimately ends with an affirming message about the importance of trust and love in a relationship. Positive Role Models and Representations(2/5): The couple go through struggles but learn to love each other in the end. Watching Experience: Quality(opinionated): (My rating) Rated PG-13 For sexual humor including brief partial nudity, some language, brief violence, drinking and some smoking.

The Money Pit

I didn’t like this movie. I only smirked once out of the whole hour and a half. I am not into slapstick comedies so that was probably the reason why I didn’t like this.

Tom Hanks' classic slapstick comedy still holds up.

The Money Pit is a 1986 comedy directed by Richard Benjamin and starring Tom Hanks, Shelley Long, Alexander Godunov, and Joe Mantegna. Language(2/5): Two uses of “b**ch” and “chr**t”, and one use of “g****mn”. Infrequent uses of “a**”, “damn”, “whore”, and “hell”. Sex(2/5): The lead couple is shown kissing and moaning in one scene, with the woman wrapping her legs around Walter. The construction group watches them, and they close the windows in fright. The woman is led to believe she slept with Max, but it’s revealed she didn’t. When Walter finds out he exclaims “You whore!”. A construction worker says “we like to work the wood in my job”, using hand movements to imply sex. Drinking, Drugs, And Smoking(1/5): The female lead thinks she got drunk. Violence(3/5): Lots of crazy slapstick pratfalls and violence, including Walter falling through the floor, the stairs collapsing, a rube goldberg-like destruction of the construction workers at the house, electrical failures, and the bathtub falling in. Positive Messages(3/5): Messages about love and trust. Positive Role Models And Representations(2/5): The couple go through struggles but learn to love each other in the end. Quality(opinionated): A good comedy, with the highlight being Tom Hanks laughing psychotically when the bathtub collapses, that was pure gold. (My rating) PG-13 For comedic violence, some sensual humor and suggestive content, and brief language.

Classic, Funny 80s movie

Funny classic from the 80s Tom Hanks plays Walter Fielding and his wife Anna (Shelly Long) want to buy a new house and they find one but it keeps falling and they have to pay people to repair it and they fall into the money pit. There’s a bit of language characters say Whore, Bastard, Ass, Goddamn, Screw and blood-sucking. As well as language there’s sexual content to there’s some making out And scantily clad women plus some sexual jokes. Great film, recommend it strongly.

Yes! This was great.

Unlike other people have said, this was a GREAT movie! People should stop being so mean. If you have kids, they can watch it, whatsoever. Your parents probably watched it with you without a second thought, and you should do the same. Great movie, cast, and lots of laughs.

It's no so good as the original review.

It's not proper for kids; has some funny scenes, but it has many moments just for adults.

Very good, but....

This movie is meritorious in the sense that there is a lot of hilarious scenes such as the house falling apart scenes, but there were also some scenes where there were some unnecessary words such as, wh**e. This movie is pretty good overall. I liked it personally. See this movie if you love comedy. However, if you don’t like arguing, it’s considered wise to look at the alternatives.

Some mature themes

I think that people ages 13+ should watch this because in one part the carpenter makes an extremely mature-sounding joke, IDK what it means but I don't think I want to.
