Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that while "Right by My Side" isn't the most explicit song ever released by notoriously risque rapper Nicki Minaj, it still includes several graphic words ("s--t," "d--k," "p---y") and lyrics about sex. The song also features controversial R&B star Chris Brown.

What's the story?

"RIGHT BY MY SIDE" is the second single from Pink Holiday: Roman Reloaded, the second album from one of the biggest names in modern rap, Nicki Minaj. A duet with R&B singer Chris Brown, this track recounts the love between a guy and girl who are "not living right" without the other by their side.

Is it any good?

Though Nicki Minaj made a name for herself as a rapper, her talent for singing shines through on this single. The addition of Brown's strong vocals helps to add interest to the track beyond its fairly straightforward synth-beat.

Families can talk about...

Some Edgy Lines,But more positive than other minaj tracks.

Parents need to know that there are a few edgy lines that involve sex in this song along with brief profanty("S**t","d**k') but this song is actually much cleaner and more upbeat than some of minaj's other songs, this song also has a good message about not turning away from a good relationship, and there's even an edited version that takes out most of the profanty making this an OK choice for teens who like Nicki Minaj. Messages:Positive 1/5 Though it gives an adult account of being in love,it does give a good message about not turning away from a relationship that's going very well. Role Models:Positive 1/5 Minaj manages to avoid explict songwriting for this song by focusing more about what's important in a relationship, her counterpart Chris Brown recently did a duet with Rihanna. Violence:0/5 Not an issue Sex:2/5 A few sexually-laced lines "It ain't your spit game,it's your d**k game." Language:3/5 Brief use of "S**t","P***y","d**k","b***h" and "d*mn".There is an edited version that takes out most of the profanty. Consumerism:1/5 One mention of Lakers and Marc Jacobs. Drinking,Drugs and Smoking:0/5 Not an issue Is it any Good:Though Minaj is known for her rapping skills, she's on a whole other level when she let's her singing vocals out, which she delivers, add it with a cool R&B sound and strong vocals from Chris Brown and you got this being one of Minaj's better known song's.
