What's the Story?

Thirteen years and nine months ago, Laura (Aubrey Plaza) had a dalliance that resulted in some pretty dire consequences: Her boyfriend (Danny DeVito) was actually Satan in disguise, and now her half-human daughter, Chrissy (Lucy DeVito), is a LITTLE DEMON. Laura and Chrissy have been on the run Chrissy's whole life so that Laura could hide her daughter from her dad, but Chrissy's supernatural powers arrived on her 13th birthday, and so did an offer from Dad: Join with him and turn all of existence into hell. Chrissy's considering it. But in the meantime, she wants to live part-time with mom, part-time with dad, and attend a normal high school full-time. Hey, no reason she shouldn't have a typical high school experience ... right?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 2 ):
Kids say ( 3 ):

As a decidedly un-typical teen and her otherworldly Prince of Darkness dad, voice actors Lucy and Danny DeVito inject extra charm into this animated adventure. The setup is solid too, with Chrissy battling demons on a number of levels both symbolic and real: puberty and the ordinary travails of high school life, plus a brewing supernatural battle between good and evil that turns on her joining either her dad's force of evil or the regular humans personified by her mom.

It's a lot for a teen girl to handle. Fittingly, Chrissy sometimes enjoys her powers, dispatching bullies with a flick of her wrist and spicing up a birthday party with fire and rampaging demons. Other times, like when she's dealing with the fallout of her unusual co-parenting arrangement (she's willing to spend every other weekend in hell with her dad), she's enraged by the responsibility thrust upon her due to her half-Antichrist heritage. Make no mistake, Little Demon is profane and very violent; despite the troubled-family premise, it's not for family viewing. But with gags that are more clever than you'd expect, and strong actors in both the lead and secondary roles, this animated romp is one to watch out for.
