It really dependz
This is a great show and love it and didn’t get scared despite what’s in it
For everyone I say it depends I say as long as they aren’t scared by what stuff happens in some episodes/how courage gets scared (sometimes insides pop out from fear) it should be fine

Good but not for young kids
I’m 18 and I recently started watching courage the cowardly dog again and to be honest, I dont know how that show didn’t scar me when I was 6. The show is based off of an infamous series killer and the scenes are not only violent but the images shown puts a traumatizing stamp in your child’s mind. To expose this kind of content to kids is astounding to me. Kids at that age should not have the images of killing and sick events in their head. Kids ages 3-9 are most vulnerable to the influence of their environment and the the things they watch and that’s why I think this show shouldn’t even be considered a “children’s” show. The stress and negativity and trauma put in to this show is worse than harmless jokes that come out of family guy or any other “mature” cartoon out there. Again the show is great but not for young kids at all. and to add on to the traumatizing images, the husband in the show is seen abusing the dog verbally and mentally... I don't think for one second that it’s okay to show animal
abuse on any kind of platform because it is completely unacceptable at all costs.

Nightmare Fuel
I am sure this is a good show for older kids and I kniw plenty of people who really enjoyed it, but when I was little watching it was terrifying. I never would deliberatly watch it, but every once in a while it would be up for my sister or because it was playing in the background. That few scenes I had watched would be burnt into my head and would scare me like I just saw something horrific. One scene would give me nightmares for weeks. Everyone here is talking about how it can get a little violent. I think the real problem is the overall horrorific feeling your kids might get from it

Courage the Cowardly Dog was not for kids
i think courage the cowardly dog was a very classic show but it was not for kids because it was really creepy and dark 2 murderers come back from the dead and try to sacrifice muriel katz killed people theres a guy called freaky fred who shaves animals and people while horror music plays in the background and in one of the darkest episodes ever called the demon in the matress muriel gets possessed by a demon and her head spins around like the exorcist and falls on the bed dr le quack sets a police car on fire and is seen walking away wearing a police uniform and sets a prison on fire and walks away eustace gets killed in one episode a walking hand tries to strangle courage to death a old guy falls and calls for his butler and his butler walks away courage imagines muriel and eustace getting decapitated and ripped in half imagines some racoons tearing her apart and her bones are seen and also imagines muriel getting electrocuted to death courages heart flies out when hes scared and he also rips himself apart and in another one of the darkest episodes ever the mask a cat beats up courage and a dog is a pimp who beats his 2 charges with that being said courage the cowardly dog was not for kids and the creator even recently confirmed it was not made for kids with that being said i dont recommend it for anyone under the age of 14

Nightmare fuel, literally still freaks me out a little
Oh the 90's and early 00's, did anyone ever ask the children who watched Nickalodian or Cartoon Network whether they liked the shows or if they were horrified and transfixed on the dog that was mute to a blind women when the devil broke into the house and killed her husband? Or did everyone just assume that children would love the funny looking dog and his elderly owners?

A magical show for young minds that creates a sense of wonderment and encourages creativity. Kids needn’t be sheltered from such gifts in the fear of them being exposed to a negative catalyst. I have fond memories of watching this in my grandparents basement at the age of 75 (them not me). I loved how much creativity and heart went into each episode. It felt like a wonderful dream at the time. Stay away from the very last episode though, there’s a jump scare.

Traumatising, However...
This show is excellent. I remember watching it when I was at least either 6 or 7. I enjoyed it at that time and was really curious, but some episodes did traumatise me like "Freaky Fred" and the wish tree episode. When I grew up, I decided to re-watch it. I still enjoyed it, in fact I enjoyed it even more. The subtle attempts at horror—like freaky Fred, which it seemed to being a metaphor for either peadophilia or serial killing. I still don't know. I think this show is clever and children should watch it. It teaches you how to solve problems—usually not in the most effective or realistic ways—and to face your fears. Despite being petrified by it as a child, it still grabbed my attention and made me want to watch it even more to understand what exactly happened. I wish I could vote for it 1000+ times.
