There is a disclaimer at the top of the show for good reason
My review is based on content only. I’m normally pretty liberal about what my teens watch, but this show should absolutely not be viewed by anyone under 18, and would probably not appeal to many adults. Spoiler: The questionable content in the first episode alone includes full nudity and graphic sex portrayed by just barely adult actors playing high schoolers, actual porn footage, a close up of an older man putting a condom on his erect penis and having anal sex with a trans teen, drug usage of every kind imaginable, and a child drug dealer. If your teen has already watched, you might want to consider if a discussion is appropriate.

It’s absolutely inappropriate for kids and even some emotionally unstable adults.
This is material to chip away and corrupt youth and society in a grotesque and sneaky
Way.
We have to draw lines in television.
This is flat out porn in disguise.

Destructive
If you find Sodom and Gomorrah entertaining, this is the show for you. It’s disgusting and unrealistic, with no redeeming qualities. I feel sorry for the actresses who allowed themselves to be prostituted for this “teen drama.” Shame on the director. A society whose children are raised on this kind of garbage is a society soon destined for self-destruction.

Effortlessly Disappointing
Euphoria fails in living up to its premise of giving an honest, emotional portrayal of the dark side of teenage life.
The show is a disaster of shock value moments, focusing heavily on sex, drugs, and violence to establish the world the characters interact in instead of nuanced storytelling. Story events are predictable, and when they’re not its because they take the show in such a needlessly dark direction that a normal person would have never thought of. Numerous sex scenes, on screen masturbation, penises and breasts. Hard drugs like fentanyl pressured onto kids, frequent alcoholism and addiction in almost 100% of the main cast. Any positive messages the show tries to present about vulnerability, friendship and family ties, and authenticity are choked out by a sea of noise and poor storytelling. You feel very little for very few of the cast with most of the characters falling into over-exaggerated character tropes. Anyone that can relate to any of the cast needs to seek immediate clinical help.

Under Some Conditions
This is definitely for MATURE audiences. This isn’t your Riverdale type drama, or some other quirky teen show that is popular. Euphoria is intense, raw, graphic, and intuitive. Younger audiences may find it difficult to understand the themes of the show, and instead believe that it’s “glamorizing” and “romanticizing” bad behavior, when it’s doing the opposite. Some of the themes like drug-use and what not may be very intimidating, and almost scary, so it’s not for the faint of heart. I believe some 17, 18, whatever year olds may still not understand it, but really it depends on how your critical thinking works.
Aside from that, this show is actually really good, if you ignore the writing. Cinematography, music, casting, acting, and all is so beautiful and cohesive.

Too Dark
It's just too dark. Every other sentence has an F bomb. High schoolers I know are def not like these kids even the wildest ones. Glorifies rape, sexual exploitation, drinking, & drugs.
The sex stuff is fine. Finally male full frontal not female exploitation. Check it out to see if it's right for your family. I gave it one star due to the darkness but the acting, directing, & production are very good.

This is not for kids
I can believe the first review I read on here was from a 12 year old. This show really isn’t for anyone under 18. I even think as a parent it is so hard to watch thinking this, somewhere, is life for certain teenagers. My high school experience looked much different, even my college did. I only wrote this review after seeing age 12 watching this. What you see in this show, you can’t unsee. It is a lot. Lots of porn, lots of abuse, lots of drugs, and lots of life that doesn’t feel good. I wish as a parent life was not like this show at all. And always wondering how parents can watch their kids act in these shows. Blows my mind.

Wish I could unwatch.
I unfortunately watched the first five episodes, and I can tell you that afterwards I felt unwell from the viewing experience. I immediately regretted my decision to give this show a fair chance to prove itself something more than an extremely dark and depressing depiction of high school teenagers.

I watched this show when it came out because EVERYONE was raving about it, but there is absolutely so much problematic stuff in this show, I could go on for years. I think the biggest problem is the amour pedophelia that is glorified in this show. There are multiple scenes and storylines that push this and push it hard. They go way more into detail. For instance when Rue was talking about how Maddy lost her virginity to a 40 man and she said how Maddy was pretty much in control. Maddy was 14 she was not in control. Kat’s storyline was so detailed and gross and so was Jules’
I didn’t watch season two and I don’t plan on it. There are many of other things that make this show really not suitable for any age group in my opinion but that’s the biggest issue I have with this show.

A blunt and very real portrayal of a GenZ’s highschool experience
This is perhaps the most blunt and unfiltered TV series about GenZ yet. The series is told from a teen narcotic addict’s perspective in the way she views her relationship to drugs and highschool. Of course her being an addict leads her to being in a series of dangerous situations. The whole series is sort of a warning of the dangers of drugs, social media arranged hookups, and generally toxic relationships. There is nudity and sex that can easily be skipped over and won’t take away from the plot. The demographic intended is high school seniors and mature juniors. This is something that at that point they can relate to due to them navigating a world very much different from anything seen prior to today. Teens with social media have been sent stuff to the extent of what is shown in the series. Many high schoolers know at least one addict, and some know teens who have potentially died. The language in a modern high schooler’s experience is the least of their worries. Euphoria does an exceptionally twisted, dark and beautiful way of showing this with still so much warmth and good intentions at the heart. It is relatable to generally every GenZ kid out there. I will say that the first season is a lot harder to watch then the second. The second season has much more warmth and love in the characters and the way they are portrayed. The first is all setup and starts off kind of rocky and blunt. Please watch the entire series before drawing conclusions. There is a reason it has won awards.
