Wonderful show for mature 14 year olds.
Hello I am 14, I love this show one of my favourites. It deals with a soldier who was beaten up and brought back to USA. Carey Matherson is a cia officer suspecting him of being turned. And they slowly play a game to defend america. Carey is a great role model, a strong person who would die to protect her country. It has sex, but only in the first 3 episodes, when I started the show i was 12, and I just closed my eyes till my mum said it was over. The violence is not too strong, minimum blood, we see people getting beaten up, but not for long. Great show definetly recommend it !

Lots of swearing, but not lots of sexual content
In the first season there is a couple episodes with sex and there are bare breasts. After the first season its all ok. They do say things like fuck, shit, bitch, damn, etc. I think you should watch it with your kid so you can skip through the sex scenes but other then that, its a great espionage drama that will leave you craving for more.

Just started the show but ok so far:)
Ok so I am a 16 year teen so my opinion might not matter as much as other reviews. But as a teen I have been watching many TV shows and many of those have been on HBO, Starz, etc. such as Spartacus trueblood and game of thrones. Each of these 3 shows contain nudity, violence, and strong language but this generation is the most technology advanced generation so we know about sex, have you heard the language in current highschools? And with internet many people know about.... We'll never mind. But anyways none of the stuff in these shows should be a big concern for kids 15 and above.

Maturity level
This is definitely something you have to be mature enough to handle. I saw the first few episodes, and my parents were almost immediately turned off by the idea, until my father got into watching it. But yeah, it's a show that requires a high level of maturity, the only reason I saved it from "not for kids"

One of the best shows on TV, worth watching!
This show is simply one of the best I have ever watched in my life. My stepfather watched it first, then my mom started watching it, and then my dad. After a while, I got sucked into it, too. Although my mom took some convincing before she allowed me to watch it, she eventually realized I was mature enough to handle it. Well, it's amazing! The plot is incredible and complicated but intriguing and it just makes it hard for you to stop watching. There are graphic and sometimes rather extensive sex scenes that are annoying, honestly, and which I usually skip because I have no interest in watching them. Swearing and language might also be a problem, as well as violence and torture. The characters swear constantly. In flashbacks and in present time there are scenes that include violence and death but since the whole plot is based around terrorism, that shouldn't be a surprise. The sex scenes and the violence/language might but some off but the quality of the plot and the characters is amazing, making this one of the best television series I have watched in a while. I advise parents to watch it first, before determining whether it is appropriate for teens. Although officially rated TV-MA (mature audiences only, 18+) I believe it's okay for mature 14 year olds and maybe a few 13 year olds like myself, considering they are interested in the plot and can handle the violence and sex. The most obvious things to caution about, I have already addressed but parents should also be warned that there is emotional conflict, suspense, and characters that are flawed to the point where it's hard to draw the line between whether they are good or bad. Carrie Mathison, arguably the main character besides Brody, would be one of these characters. This emotional ambiguity and the fact that morals are questioned, characters don't always make the right decision, may also be overwhelming for specific viewers especially because the show has a sense of realism about it that is hard not to see, the characters being realistic and portrayed convincingly and even the plot itself is riveting yet still plausible, in a way. It is an incredible tv show that I recommend for teens older than 15 as well as parents both due to the content (sex, violence, language, etc.) as well as the plot, which might be too intense too complicated for younger viewers (tweens). As for those who are younger than 14, it depends largely on maturity and content that they have already been exposed to.

Remarkable Work
Homeland has to be my overall favorite tv show. It has strong plot. They are always politically correct and suspenseful. I have seen much worse content on Premium (uncensored) Programming (HBO, Showtime, Cinamax, Starz, ect.). Not to say this show is necessarily "clean". I havent fisnhed season 2 but i season 1 there was one 20 second sex scene in the first episode and only 2 other instances of not sexual nudity. And as far episode 6, i have not scene any sexually provocative scenes, no nudity no promiscuity at all. There is some foul language but nothing you teenager hasn't herd, said or couldn't handle. And finally in season 1 Dana is shown drinking and smoking illegal contraband. Overall this show this the perfect pick for your older teen

Homeland: great show for mature teens
Homeland is one of those shows whether you like or you hate. The show is not action-packed like its similar political drama 24 and can be rather boring at times, but it is the little things you disregard at first that then make you come to a stirring realization. This is more of a psychological thriller and probably is not a great fit for a child who enjoys plenty of action. There are very graphic sexual encounters and nudity in the first three episodes, but after those there is none at all. There is very little violence, yet when it occurs it can be rather graphic. The only drug related issue in the show is Brody's daughter and her stereotypical stoner friends. The language can be pretty rough at times, but not as rough as Homeland's fellow showtime shows like Dexter and Weeds. Most of the F-bombs are dropped by the main character Carrie Matheson. This show is fantastic but know the maturity of him or her before they watch.

Great, interesting drama
Good as an alternative to most crime shows. Very intriguing and well made. Some episodes are better than others but hey, if Obama watches it, it must be good!
