Is Over Acting a thing?

Never got into Brandys show Moesha but, while in quarantine- I decided to give Zoe ever after a try. The characters were a bit stereotypical but I thought Zoe and her handsome handyman could make for a cute romance. Although Ignacio delivered his part very well Brandy fell short due to “ over acting”, not to mention her character was too quick to anger- or assert herself with stereo typical “ I am a strong black woman” tropes. It would be refreshing to see a warm kind black woman portrayed on tv- without her color having to be part of the dialogue.
