What’s It About?
In StarTeeth, kids get to choose from 12 different characters including a cat and a gingerbread man (hey, everyone needs to brush their teeth!). The characters brush their teeth in front of a mirror so they can see what areas they are brushing. Kids follow along and brush too. Kids get two minutes to brush as well as they possibly can. Kids can tap "quit" at any time to stop brushing, and the quit button also serves to pause the timer.
Is It Any Good?
STARTEETH is a playful app to keep kids brushing their teeth. The instructions of how to properly brush teeth are very detailed and thorough. The app takes care of counting down the two minutes for each teeth brushing session, while kids can brush their teeth along with their chosen mate. StarTeeth combines fun with what is usually a daily chore. While the app is excellent for helping kids and encouraging them to brush their teeth, it doesn't address other oral hygiene issues, such as flossing.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Make it fun: Brush your teeth together!
Talk about aspects of oral hygiene such as flossing and visiting the dentist.
Once kids have mastered the basics and no longer need to watch the character brush, find other fun ways to pass the two minutes, such as a short song they can listen to while brushing.
