Is It Any Good?
SYLVESTER'S BAND offers kids a delightful story with incredibly appealing art (even if the illustrator is a bit loose with standard animal shapes and colors). But the interactivity is what makes it a true standout. Every page has hotspots (all hidden, none clearly marked) to tap, twist, flick, or otherwise move around. Pull leaves off of trees and toss them into the air to watch them float down, tilt your iPad to see all the paintings on a wall suddenly shift with the change of gravity, strum a banjo to hear it plink out notes. A great storybook app combines excellent story, art, and interactivity -- and that's just what Sylvester's Band does.
