A lot or a little?
The parents' guide to what's in this app.
What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Toy Story Mania is a shooting gallery game (with no real violence) based upon not only the Toy Story films, but on a Toy Story shooting-gallery-esque ride at Walt Disney World. It copies the ride well enough for a four year-old to see the app and comment, "Hey, we did that as Disney World." In addition, parents should know that if you download the free Toy Story 3 app, you can connect it to your Toy Story Mania app and then play this game through the central hub of the Toy Story 3 app. Before you do so, you should read our review of that other app.
Is it any good?
TOY STORY MANIA is a visually beautiful app with nicely laid-out -- and varied -- controls for each of its several in-game "game booths." You're forced to start off at easy levels, opening up more difficult ones with each success. This might frustrate older, more experienced gamers, but is a great strategy for easing young kids into the game. Depending on your score, you'll also win a certain number of coins, which can then be used to buy bonuses at the prize booth -- bonuses which you can use to assist you on more difficult levels. In the end, this would be a well-crafted and incredibly fun game app with or without the beloved Toy Story characters..
