This book is very explicit but written well. It has super mature scenes but it is a book that I think teenage boys and girls should read. It has educational values for teens but I think you have to be very mature to find the themes behind the graphic content.

Good Book For Mature Kids&Teens
I believe that Beautiful is a very moving and honest book. It talks about problems that people have and that the whole world isn't amazing for everybody. I think that it's a good book for mature readers but definitely not for kids under the age of 12. Yes, the book talks about challenging topics such as sex, drugs and alcohol but it's a book that faces reality and how harsh life can be. It's a powerful and moving book. Being the same age as Cassie, it made me feel for her and be thankful for the privileged life that I live. It didn't make me uncomfortable that she was doing all of these sinful and vulgar acts at 13 but it's reality.
Kids: Don't read it (unless mature)
Teens: Read
Parents: Talk about sex, drugs and alcohol. Educate your children.

Ehhhh
I read this book, and I am 13 years old. I read it in a span of a few days and, to be honest, I wish I hadn't. I am not insulting the author because the book was well written, but I think I read at too young of an age and it kind of scarred me. Sometimes I think of parts of the book and I shudder because they were so graphic and NOT APPROPRIATE. Maybe if you are 14 or 15 and above this would be a fine book, it is just a little innapropriate. Cassie also has a sexual relationship with another girl which totally confuses me and I wish that was not part of the story. lil weird

Meh.
Honestly I don't get what all the hype was about. I read so many reviews of this book saying 'best book eva!!!!!! x0x' maybe if you are a thirteen year old you might enjoy this book but to me it was just another novel. Like so many other books the main character starts hanging out and being influenced by the 'wrong crowd' she tries drugs for the first time, loses her virginity, starts drinking, and does many other illegal things thirteen year olds shouldn't be doing. But then she makes a friend, tries to help her and everything turns to crap.
This is a very typical coming-of-age story and deserves, really, no special mention. Beware of the f word and many other little swear words (s***, c**p etc.) There is sex but not detailed enough to cause any concern... The worst part is that in the end everything works out ok for this girl who has wasted her tweenage years and that is setting a bad example for younger girls looking for a role model. As long as your daughter understands that even though it worked out ok for Cassie in the end, an end result ike the one in the book is not always achieved in real life.

Must Read for Adults and Young Adults
I think this is a nice book to show adults what is REALLY happening to some of us - teenagers. Yeah, some teens might handle everything smoothly but some of us, don't - like the characters in the book. Some struggles and this book portrays it. And parents must realize that their children needs enough attention. They should not be neglected but they don't need too much attention either.
And I think this book is also a good-read for mature teenagers. It'll make them realize that screwing up can really screw things up. It did scare me a little bit. And that's a good thing, right? 'cause it prevented me to do something violent or dumb like do drugs or have sex.

BEAUTIFUL- Amy Reed review
A very good book so far.. not completely done but i can't put this book down! Now I will say this book may not be appropriate for anyone under the age of 13 so what I am saying is this book is in a sense PG-13 or maybe even M for mature (13+ in my book).. Honestly .. This book isn't the most uplifteing (so far) soo.. if your looking for a more insipering book than you may want to try my favorite book Teen Idol - Meg Cabot or The earth,My butt,& other big roundthings - carolyn mackler.. Hope this helps

Listen up.
For all of you that think this book is 'another book about depressing topics', its not. Its a 13 year old who just wants to be cool. She only wants to be cool, and she will do anything for it. She struggles with everything; sex, drugs, alcohol, violence. This book covers those topics. The true theme of this book isnt those topics. It is body image. It is called Beautiful, because when the main character feels beautiful, she feels like she is cool. The main character has never been called Beautiful before. She has never been beautiful in her opinion. The scary thing about this book is the reality. Everything in it, could be happening as you read this. 13 year old girls could be in her shoes. 13 year old girls are in her shoes. When you want to be liked, to be called Beautiful, to be cool, it changes you. This book should be read by every single girl. No one should go though life without hearing pain that could be happening to people that they know. The real truth is, no one can say that its 'another one of (insert author's name here)'s book'. It is so real, too real to ignore.
