Amazing

Such an amazing book. Gives a good message to kids about finding happiness where you are. Like Moana only WAAAAAAYYYYY better. It has a happy ending but is a bit dark because she runs away, her mom is drunk, and she lies a ton but as long as you aren't/don't-have a super young or immature child you should be fine and love this book.

One Kate DiCamillo's best

This is in my top five favorite Kate DiCamillo book, and she's my favorite author. Great Messages: This book shows positive messages about love, and caring for people. Great Role Models: A woman takes in Beverly when she realizes that she has no home. The woman is kind and caring. Beverly is strong and courageous. Violence: At the end, a character tries to rob a restaurant, he brings a metal bat and threatens characters. He is then tied up though, and the book ends after they call the police. Sex: Some light hand holding and kisses between Beverly and a boy who's two years older than her. When Beverly gets a job at the restaurant, she waits one table and an older man slaps her butt. The other waitress tells her, "If you don't complain, he'll tip better." Swearing: Hell, Crap, just some mild curse words. Consumerism: The older waitress wants to be a rich model and talks about how her beauty will her rich a lot Drinking, Drugs, smoking: Teenage characters smoke, (it's the seventies) A man has lung cancer from smoking, and Beverly left home because her mom is a drunk. Over all this is an amazing book. I highly recommend it for kids over 9.

Beverly, Right Here is a very good book!

This book is very, very good! Kate DiCamillo weaves a sad but hopeful story yet again. There is a bit of touching between Beverly and Elmer and there is drinking and smoking, but otherwise, I think it is very appropriate.
