Boo! Don't waste your time.

Okay, my main problem with this book is the 4 that follow it. The first one is okay, not bad, not great, okay. But the next four suck! They get worse and worse! Every one has the same plot: 1. Gregor goes into the underland 2. He finds a prophecy 3. He goes on an adventure 4. He fights some rats 5. he goes home Repetitive! Don't bother with them.

One of the Good Ones Out There

I've read some pretty uncreative books, but let me tell you this book is NOT one of them. A few SPOILERS AHEAD Whether you focus on the plot, characters, or just the world in general, it's just a unique read. And the fact that it did not turn in a super romantic direction just adds that extra touch. Gregor is honestly such a great role model, as he cares so much for his family, and would rather his little sisters enjoy life, even if he has to suffer a bit. It does get a tad violent (especially later in the series), including a disease that is described fully, and a few characters dying, but it's not too bad. Overall, I'd suggest that anyone, tween or older, should read this (Here's a bonus, my PARENTS loved it as well), it's refreshing from some of the things you can find elsewhere, and I recommend it to anyone when I start talking about books.

Definitely a good book

I remember reading this when I was much younger. It has likeable and relatable characters which goes a long way in captivating the reader. As well as this, the messages in this are very good for young children, such as anti-racism and things of the sort. The protagonist looks back and reflects upon his deeds throughout the story and is definitely a good person for those young kids to look up to.

(the series) changed my life

Ge-gor ;), the main character is a modern middle-schooler and actually LIKEABLE. He adapts to his situation and all the characters are good! This 'ne makes Suzanne Collins my favorite author. For the record, I've read 6 Harry Potters, 5 Percy Jacksons, 2 Magnus Chases, and 12 Wimpy Kids. Plus Hunger Games, BEFORE these.
