I felt uncomfortable

The story most likely would have been good except for all the cuss words! I felt so uncomfortable reading it! I don’t hear as many cuss words in the hallways of my school as I read in the first few chapters of this book. I stopped reading it after the third chapter because I just couldn’t take it.

Very violent, but eye-opening story about the slums in Haiti

I think this is a very eye-opening book about Haiti. There is constant violence throughout the whole story, and shocking statements that the main character makes (the very first page, he states that he had seen babies deserted in the dumpster because their parents could not feed or take care of them) which would not be good for the faint of heart. The main character mentions a rape in the book, and that's about as far as the sex goes. Language is not very often, but still is swear words like f***k and s**t...I don't think that was mentioned in the review that Common Sense Media did. Overall, it is a really good book, and I recommend it for anyone 14 up.
