Beautiful tale with young indigenous character.

This is an amazing book! I read it at school in fourth grade and fell in love. There is some racism though so I would recommend it for more mature tweens. In a play *SPOILER ALERT* Native Americans are described as savages, and Regina, a Native girl, is forced to perform a stereotypical dance. Eggs are also thrown at her.

Good Educational Novel

This novel brings attention to a lot of the issues with the law system back in the 1950s. As well as how they treated the indigenous tribes and P.O.C., its a good lesson for those who haven't fully been educated properly on these matters while also keeping the readers attention with different plot points/twists, and nothing truly gruesome is mentioned.
