Mo'Ne Davis, with the help of author Hilary Beard, paints quite a vivid picture of a normal girl who loves sports and works hard to excel at them. The story is largely inspirational, sometimes frustrating (due to the biases of adults), and fun. The first-person voice -- sometimes as an interview with friends and family -- can be a bit hard to navigate and follow along with, but overall Mo'Ne's message and personality come through clearly.

What's important to note is how well Mo'Ne (as well as those around her) handles the pressure of her newfound fame and recognizes and appreciates the phenomenal opportunities that have come her way as a direct result of her hard work.
