What's the Story?
REMARKABLY RUBY tells the story of Ruby and Mia, two middle schoolers who used to be best friends. Ruby is anxious, introverted, and loves to write poetry. Mia is outgoing, popular, and running for class president. The girls might think they've become complete opposites, but can they find a way to rekindle their friendship?
Is It Any Good?
Terri Libenson's fast-paced, entertaining graphic novel about friendship and stepping outside your comfort zone is a must-read for kids. As in her previous graphic novels, Libeson continues to use different formats for her characters -- prose with sketches for Ruby and comic-style panels for Mia -- to tell her story. Readers will be surprised by Ruby and Mia's unexpected connection and will love how they find their way back to each other. As Remarkably Ruby progresses, kids will also learn the importance of communication, courage, and empathy.
