No way this should be JF book!

This is a very well written book with an interesting plot and good story. However, it is probably one of the more scary books I have ever read. There is no way it should be shelved in the juvenile fiction part of the library - definitely more young adult. I read it before passing it on to my almost 13 year olds and am very glad I did! We will be holding off for at least another 2 years on this one!

Engaging Read

I read this book with my 10 year old son, and I found myself stealing chapters after he was asleep! This is a chilling tale of a 7th son who reluctantly becomes the Spook's apprentice. His job entails keeping witches, ghasts and bogarts at bay in the county. When he mistakenly frees the malevolent Mother Malkin, things get terrifying. Know your child, my 10 year old loved this book and adores the scary parts. His sister would be up all night if we read this. I would recommend this for kids aged 10 and up IF they are not easily spooked.
