Great for a mature 13 y/o

I genuinely adored this book! It has a lot of hate on booktok and YouTube videos and what not but quite honestly… I thought it was pretty good. When they complain about it and stuff they’re saying it’s not broken there’s not good black representation which is a real problem and some books but honestly I just don’t think it is in this book. A lot of the problems are that there is a main character who is named Coco and it’s also black which would be problematic if Coco weren’t a French name and also short for Cosette. Not to mention that there are plenty of LGBTQ+ characters and not to seem doll but there are more than just one black character… I don’t even know where booktok is coming from. But enough about that looks actually get into it. I thought the plot was great in the first book it’s more of fluff and cute romance followed by a sex scene which was admittedly kind of vulgar but definitely skippable if you are uncomfortable reading it or not allowed to read that sort of thing skipping is definitely an option. This book was extremely good and heart wrenching had a cute romance and adorable likable characters. This review goes for all the books ( because I don’t wanna leave a review on all of them) there’s at least one sex scene in every book but every last one of them is skippable and unimportant to the plot … Not that it is a bad thing of course. Just let your kid read it. it’s amazing

Mostly Okay...

Really good story. Kind of a lot of violence but nothing that bothered me. I'm not really concerned about that in books, but if you're more sensitive to it then maybe skip those parts. The sex scenes weren't too descriptive but did make me a little uncomfortable. Prob not gonna read the rest of the series though.

It was okay, but not great

I know some people probably enjoyed this book, and I can see why, but most people under at least 13 probably shouldn’t read it. Like some other people said, the main character (Lou) has a pretty filthy mouth, and there is lots of talk about embarrassing bar songs, along with a sex scene that is described quite a bit. It was mainly just touching, but I still don’t think people under 14 should read it. If you are 13 and pretty mature, it should be fine, but there are plenty of other books people can read that are less dirty and have a far better plot. I would suggest Skyward by Brandon Sanderson; it is more sci-fi, but the main character is really funny, and it a lot less…dark? Than Serpent and Dove.

Amazing!

I loved this book so much, and yes it was rather explicit in some parts but I read A Court of Thorns and Roses when I was 11 so it’s really not that bad

Good book for most

I thought it was a really good book. Definitely not for people that don't like witchcraft or a little bit of strong language here and there, but if you can handle/enjoy books that feel a little more mature it's great!

Take a bit of caution.

This book is really good and the romance is very swoon worthy. Take caution when letting your kids read. It contains quite a bit of violence, language and mature topics. This book also contains a pretty explicit sex scene, so be wary of that. I said 14+ but as long as your child is mature they will be able to handle this book.

Best Book Ever

Even tho there was some things that did stand out as inappropriate including a s*x scene this book is the best thing I have ever read and made me really connected to all the characters and fall in love with them!!! 100% recommended

bestest book ever

In this book, the overall story and plot together with the violence is almost like those Marvel or DC superhero scenes. They do not use guns here so its more of like oh here is my dagger I'm going to impale you and stuff. There are some parts in the book which are a little bit more inappropriate like talking about prostitution, Big Titty Liddy song, being in pubs and bars, having steamy moments, talking bout their fun bits and dancing around naked. Though I do not think it is too much it may be inappropriate to those that do not understand much (eek). (and maybe I swear a lot too)
