Specials Book Review
Specials is a fast-paced, dystopian themed novel, as well as the 3rd novel in the Uglies series. This book is wrapped around the fact that Tally Youngblood is now a super-human special, a creature that is designed to keep the Uglies down, and Pretties brainless. Now she is one of them, and goes on an amazing adventure, programmed to destroy the New Smoke. But something sparks in Tally's memory - a tiny heartbeat that is easily tuned out. It all comes down to one simple choice: listen to that faint memory, or carry out the mission she's programmed to complete. No matter what, Tally's life will never be in the same matter.
Although this book is 384 pages long, I couldn't get enough of it. Every time I turned the page I was on the edge of my seat, excited to find out what was going to happen next. I was hooked right at the beginning, chapter 1, due to the amazing detail, action, and intriguing plot. Westerfeld has done a good job at explaining not only what the characters are doing, but who they are. While I was reading, it felt like I was playing pranks and running right along with Tally, Shay and the other characters. It really enhanced the story. Despite the fact that the first chapter was a little slow, the addiction that Scott left me with at the end of every chapter made up for it. I would recommend this book to practically anyone over the age of twelve because of a bit of kissing, nude figures, and language. It's gripping for a teens, and sends a good message out about beauty and society. 5 stars out of 5.

Terrible
I started reading this book with very high hopes. This book took my heart out, ran it over with a bus, then sent it to the dump. And not in the good way. There is a war, the death of a important character, who dies after surgery. Zane deserved better. The author ruined the series for me with this book.

READ IT IF YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH
This book is amazing! I love the plot! I would say this book is good for ages 11 and up. There are a few bad things though. There is lots of drinking, making out, cussing, etc. The people in this book act kind of bad. That is all I have to say about that. I love the plot and setting though. It is a really good book if you are old enough to understand it.

Awesome book w/ great writing.
Definitely the best book of the series. The writing is such good quality. The genre is sort of sci-fi with some action. And while I hate both of those genres, this book is one of my all time favorites.
It definitely encourages you to think about government + how much government involvement is too much (the government in this series is a dictatorship.)
