How Spinning Impacted Me

Once I really got into Spinning I was shocked at the amount of language and sexual references that appear quite regularly. Tillie is also a great role-model for girls questioning their sexualities. I believe kids in middle school and high school.

Wonderful book!

I first read this book when I was eleven years old, and liked it. However, I recently had the urge to pick it up again, and understood so much more of it. I believe that younger kids (11 and up) can read this book, but they may not take as much away from it as they could in a few years. There is very little swearing, violence, and sex. However, now that I look back, I didn't understand much of the book when I first read it. I recommend letting your kids read this book if they understand some of the most important parts well enough (sexual orientation, change, sexual assault). However, overall this is a wonderful book.

Amazing!

I disagree with the first review that says 18+ in the adults section. Liking girls is not inappropriate and this book normalizes it. As long as you can handle some cussing and kisses between girls this is a good book. It also has stuff about getting your period in it but not much and her tutor in high school comes onto her so that's a little bad but it shows nothing inappropriate in that scene.T his is a good book as long as you can handle minor stuff and I recommend it highly to everyone 10+.

Beautiful

I read this in one sitting today and absolutely loved it. It made me cry and smile. I found it very relatable despite not being an artist or a skater - it's just so good that you can feel exactly what Tillie is feeling through her book. In terms of content, it's fine for 13+ if you can handle the f-word. Only other mature thing is the tutor trying to assault her, but he gives up when she fights back, which I found empowering.

Don't Listen to the Other Review!

This book is incredible, the characters are beautifully portrayed, the art is gorgeous, and I promise that you will be completely sucked in to the life of Tillie Walden. The other review is completely inaccurate, while there is an assault scene in the book, it is in no way gratuitous and that reviewer shouldn't insult the book because of their own mistake. Seriously, it's a really good book for any coming of age kid or curious adult!
