As in her previous books, Terri Libenson brilliantly uses two different formats for her characters to write a fast-paced, entertaining graphic novel about friendship and middle school drama. She uses prose with sketches for Sarah and comic-style panels for Leo to tell the story of whether or not Sarah asks Ben to the dance. Readers will be surprised by the shared ending and appreciate Sarah and Leo's strong, supportive friendship. As Surprisingly Sarah progresses, kids will learn the importance of honesty, courage, and communication.
