What's the Story?

12-year-old Nic is settling into a magical realm with her family when THE BOOK OF ANANSI begins, after discovering the many secrets about her identity in the first book. Nic is preparing to enter Manifestor school, where she will learn to use her gifts. She receives new powers she doesn't understand, and a mysterious assignment to track down a magical book or else be exposed to people who would harm her.

This exciting sequel picks up seamlessly from where the first book ends, keeps the action, peril, and mystery coming at a break-neck speed, and concludes with a cliffhanger that'll leave readers eager for the next installment. Angie Thomas' effortless incorporation of West African mythology and African American history strengthens this inventively-built world, while the nuanced, relatable characters are easy to root for. The Book of Anansi lives up to its predecessor with humor, thrills, twists, and family warmth.
