Great book!

This book is very informational and has helped me through puberty and developing. it is a book I would definitely recommend for my friends. Just because it says the words "vagina" and "breasts" doesn't mean it's not for kids. If you are starting puberty, you should start with The Care and Keeping Of You 1.

Outstanding!

Although it told info that should be shared later than 10, it was a really good book and helped me a lot. It was a great follow up to The Care and Keeping of You 1.

This book is for 6th graders and up

Just cause it says "Vagina" doesnt mean ts bad. by the age of 8 or 9 you should know your own body parts. and i mean its by american girl, A DOLL COMPANY. So all you snooty parents who think "vaginas" "pubic hair" "breasts" are not smething a 11 r 10 year old should know about, their friends or the internet might tell em. OR EVEN THIS BOOK.

The one must-have puberty guide for girls

Anyone under 11 should read book 1 first because this is a continuation of that book and younger girls may not understand it. This book is for older girls because it has slightly more details and information, and goes beyond what your friend may have told you about puberty or what you've learned at school. If you have questions but cannot stop giggling whenever someone talks about (puberty) you probably should wait a little longer to read this book. Among the things detailed in this book are tips on deciding between pads or tampons, and instructions on how to use each, (and a lot more about your period) tips for finding the perfect bra, why you should use deodorant and antiperspirant when you start to smell, and the different parts of your body that puberty may affect. It also talks about maintaining healthy relationships with your family, body image, eating healthy foods, peer pressure, and why you should stay away from drinking/drugs/smoking. These are all the topics and more that are essential for girls to know around age 11-13, which is when puberty kicks in for many girls. I guarantee that this book will answer all your questions. If it does not, and you totally should anyway, read Is This Normal? another AG book that only features questions from real girls and detailed answers, and in the regular books there are only a few of these. This book helped me so much because when I started wearing bras, and using deodorant, and wearing pantyliners/pads, I wasn't completely confused because this book had taught me how to do everything. I was still a little unsure, but I felt for sure way more confident. I especially liked the sections where girls asked questions and had them answered, because all of the questions are from real girls and are shared by many girls who have the same experiences. It is also nice that there is a section on fun things to do with your family for each day of the week. This book is unlike any other in the way that it is written in a very reassuring way but still provides lots of information. This makes it easier for girls like me to learn about their bodies without being shamed or feeling uncomfortable. Again, the tips on balancing your regular life really do help also. Bullying, peer pressure, healthy eating, eating disorders, and more are explained. This is a must read for girls.

Great book!

this book helped me through my tough times being a girl and going through puberty. Girls under the age of 12 should definitely read the part one of this, the one meant for younger girls. DO NOT listen to that one parent over on the parents say...they are ridiculous! 18+ for the word vagina? the whole book is about being a girl and teaching us about it! definitely recommend this book for girls going through puberty.

Nice, a bit mature

Go ahead and let your kids read it! I read it, and liked it, although I got confused when they talked about eating disorders.

Are you sure that this is necessary?

I personally think that this is a really good book, but looking back on it, there's some stuff that was kind of unnecessary to teach 10-12 year olds. Like do you need to teach them about stuff like peer pressure and eating disorders? I do realize that it's important to teach kids early, but not THIS early. These seem like issues that teens would struggle with more.
