Interesting and intriguing
THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC! I'm not sure if it suits all types of readers, because the genre will only appeal to some tweens. Most of the content is mild; a scary zombie and one throat slitting is referred with a bit of blood but no heavy gore. There's also a bit of drinking as well, and a bit of flirting. Overall, I would totally recommend for fiction fans,

A nice magical read!
This was a really good book. The underlying there is imperial Russia. Great story line and some excellent, creative magical elements. I enjoyed this book. I believe it is fine for most tweens and teens!

Great read!
This is another novel that feels like The Hunger Games in that it has an intense game that must be played and someone will be responsible for taking someone's life to end it. In this book, the Russian Tsar must enact an ancient ritual game to determine who the next Enchantress for the kingdom will be. Of course there are two potential candidates, Vika and Nikolai, who will fight to the death to earn their place with the Tsar. Their secret magical battle will determine who wins. Family ties and friendships complicate the matter and it all comes to a head at the end of the novel. Compared to other books out, there is relatively little language or sexual content...and a few scenes where the boys are drinking in a Tavern. Other than that, there is action and magic and a love triangle that will be sure to please fans of this kind of literature.
