meh

i read this book at the start of 2022 and i sort of enjoyed it, but it wasn't the best i felt like the plot and setting was very confusing and there were so many characters, i couldn't keep up but it was fast paced and that's a good thing. i read it in 3 days, but it felt like so much longer trigger warnings racism sexism violence

Inspirational and Moving

A brilliant, moving and inspiring tale about a world of dark-coloured people who fear those among them with golden blood. I found it slightly violent but the meaning it conveyed and the way the author portrayed the story made it an amazing read. There are so many elements that have been added to the story, such as the quick betrayal from her own village as soon as her blood starts to run gold, that makes this story one of a kind. I can't wait to read the second novel in the series.

I loved it!

I loved this book so much! It is a bit violent and it does have themes of sexism and racism. It also mentions rape a few times and there is a fairly brief conversation about virginity. It is a very empowering story about a girl leaving the patriarchy and suppression of her society for something greater. I would definitely recommend this book!

I read this book in 2021, not really knowing what it was about. I really enjoyed it although there are bits of violence and gore. The book has a trigger warning and I strongly suggest that if you get upset/ triggered by these, don't read the book.

Interesting and fun read!

This was a great book with an interesting point of view. There were some slow parts, but had a very exciting plot line! I recommend The Gilded Ones if you like action and folklore that's not as intense as other stories.

Couldn’t finish

This is probably one of the most violent books I’ve ever read. It described the main character and others being tortured until they literally died and came back to life for it to happen again. When one of the characters died in an extremely violent way it described it in detail. I talks about sex and girls being raped. One of the girls cussed constantly although the spelling is changed. It also said bad words outright. I kept hoping it would get better and I tried to assume the best, “ that’s not really cussing, I just haven’t heard that word before.” “That doesn’t mean what I think it means” But every page I read it became clearer. Finally I put it down and started to cry. It made me feel that terrible. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
