Heartbreaking novel is a must-read

The Land of Forgotten Girls is yet another amazing book by Erin Entrada Kelly, but even though I'm ten I don't think it's appropriate for kids my age. The main character and her younger sister endure emotional and physical abuse by their stepmother Vea, some of which is graphically described. There are some racial slurs, and words such as dumb and crap. Characters shoplift but only one is caught and punished. Besides the mature stuff, though, it is an uplifting read and so good it's indescribable. I am very impressed by the author's writing and highly recommend this book.
