What's the Story?

In THE REFLECTION IN ME, a child looks in the mirror and sees the outside first: sparkly eyes, fun dancing, a warm smile. But as the child and the reflection talk to one another, they tell each other what they see and appreciate in the layers beneath: courage, kindness, bravery, persistence. Each attribute is a reminder that we are perfect just the way we are, from our outsides to our inner selves.

This lovely picture book engages readers with bright illustrations and a rhythmic, positive conversation between a child and their reflection in the mirror. The Reflection in Me reminds young readers and their adults that the things they do naturally—dance, play, try their best, and more—are wonderfully enough, and that they are perfect just the way they are. Marc Colagiovanni's sweet, rhythmic dialogue is a great, simple message for all ages, and the pages are full of Peter H. Reynolds' signature warm-hued, pastel illustrations.
